Tribute to a Breakdance Pioneer

olive Dance Theatre will perform works based on Ken Swift’s breakdancing legacy.

olive Dance Theatre will present Swift Solos, an evening-length series of vignettes based on the choreographic legacy of  breakdancing innovator Ken Swift on April 24 and 25 at Dance Place in Washington, D.C.

Swift was an early member of the Rock Steady Crew, a pioneering breakdance collective founded in the South Bronx in the late 1970s. He and fellow Crew members Crazy Legs, Frosty Freeze, and Mr. Freeze briefly appeared in the hit movie Flashdance in 1983.

Founded in 2002, olive Dance Theatre presents interdisciplinary work steeped in African-American vernacular. For tickets to Swift Solos, visit www.danceplace.org or call 202.269.1600.
