Ballet San Jose Lets Subscribers Delay Payment

Ballet San Jose in California has adopted flexible subscription payment options and changed its performance schedule as the California company launches its 25th-anniversary season, beginning in October and ending in April 2011.

The company will present Giselle (October 22-24) Swan Lake (February 25-27, 2011), and Roland Petit’s Carmen (April 1-3). The annual production of The Nutcracker will be given an extended run from December 11 through 26. All performances will be held at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.

In addition, a Ballet San Jose School performance of Silly Simon will be offered May 28 and 29 at the California Theatre.

The company will offer subscribers a payment deferral option. Patrons can choose to pay in full when they purchase their subscriptions, or they can select to be billed on December 31, or even choose to pay at the end of the season on April 4, 2011.

“We have never before been this flexible in our payment options,” said Box Office Manager Dennis Keefe, “but we are very much aware of the slow economy right now and we want to make it as easy as possible for people to come to the theater and enjoy these fabulous ballets.”

Friday evenings will now be the opening night for most programs, and Saturday matinees have been added. Also, the one-hour programs for young audiences that have been presented for the last five years will be replaced with a Saturday Family Series of Giselle (October 23) Swan Lake (February 26), and Silly Simon (May 28). A regular Saturday matinee series of Giselle, Swan Lake, and Carmen will also be offered.

“These new matinees will be full-length productions, but in keeping with our family-friendly philosophy, our pricing will be discounted from regular single ticket rates,” Marketing Director Lee Kopp said.
