‘Billy Eliot’ On the Lookout for Quirky Ballet Girls

Billy Elliot the Musical will hold its second annual open call for Ballet Girls at the Broadhurst Theatre, 235 West 44th Street, New York City, on September 17, according to BroadwayWorld.com.
Signup begins at 10am. Billy Elliot is on the lookout for dancers from ages 8 to 12 in a variety of shapes and sizes (tiny, chubby, lanky, quirky, etc.) with strong tap skills, expressive character, and lots of personality—not the “traditional” ballerina.
Billy Elliot—winner of ten 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical—follows its title character, a young boy in a British coal-mining town, as his passion for ballet inspires his family and his whole community and changes his life forever.
Ballet Girl hopefuls can enter to win a priority audition spot and Billy Elliot Prize Pack through a contest on the Billy Eliot Facebook page. Each week photo entries will be displayed on Facebook, with one winner announced on September 14. Visit http://www.facebook.com/BillyElliot for official rules and more information.
