Aspiring dancers can get a taste of the famed Rockettes’ training by auditioning in Orlando on January 8 for the Rockettes Summer Intensive training program at Radio City Music Hall.
The Orlando Sentinel said the Rockettes Summer Intensive, founded in 2001, offers aspiring dancers the opportunity to train with the world-famous Rockettes, learn their signature precision dance technique, and perhaps be one step closer to joining the company. Forty-seven program participants have later joined the Rockettes.
The intensive is a weeklong program, with various starting dates from June 24 to August 3, held in the Radio City studios where the Rockettes rehearse. The program runs daily from 9:30am to 5:30pm, following a curriculum that focuses on original choreography and formations from the Rockette repertoire. The program includes a student showcase and evening group education seminars.
Dancers must be at least 14 years of age (by June 22, 2012) with a minimum of five years training in tap, jazz, and ballet. Tuition is $995.
The Orlando audition will be held January 8 at 11am at the Dance Centers of Orlando, 7800 S. U.S. 17-92, Suite 144, Fern Park. For more information on the Rockettes Summer Intensive, or to register, go to www.Rockettes.com.
