On My Mind | Success through continuing education

Words from the publisher

For the past few weeks my mind has been focused on the 2018 DanceLife Teacher Conference. The creation process has been a blast—more than 100 sessions and classes are scheduled, faculty is booked, and special events are planned. We are ready to go!

Since the last conference was three years ago, I began strategizing for the 2018 event by reviewing previous schedules and literature. Comparing then and now, I noted the tremendous evolution that has taken place in the dance education field.

Today, more and more studios embrace an “everyone can dance” philosophy, which has flung open classroom doors to students of all abilities, ages, genders, learning differences, and disabilities. There are also more recreational students than ever before. Old boundaries have fallen away as educators have made dance available to all who want to experience the art, offering quality training with well-educated faculty. Classrooms are jam-packed.

On the business front, I see a boom in the creative and practical concepts that studio owners are coming up with to generate revenue. Numerous new technologies help educators tackle both business and teaching responsibilities, and offer fresh approaches to management, customer service, scheduling, and marketing. Studio ownership has never been so rewarding.

Continued success through continuing education is what the 2018 DanceLife Teacher Conference is all about. The event includes a full track of preschool and children’s work, with a focus on curriculum for children with special needs. Our classroom track features intermediate and advanced curriculum in ballet, contemporary, tap, jazz, and everything in between.

Minds will be blown with our business owner track, which is full of concepts that studio owners can put into action the minute they get home. Add in our new office manager track, and you can see that we have your whole school covered.

Bring your entire team to the 2018 DanceLife Teacher Conference—each faculty member and staffer will return home motivated to work with you to create a phenomenal season for your studio and your dancers. See you in Scottsdale July 27 to 30!
