Bart Cook and Bill Evans will be honored for their contributions to the dance world when the University of Utah College of Fine Arts holds its third annual Distinguished Alumni Assembly March 30 at 10:00 a.m. in the campus’ Kingsbury Hall.
The event will celebrate the achievements of six accomplished alumni, one from each department, and is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.
Cook is a teacher, choreographer, artistic director of CaleCo Ballet Studio, and a former New York City Ballet dancer. Evans, a dancer, choreographer, teacher, movement analyst, and writer, is the founder of the Bill Evans Dance Company and Bill Evans Rhythm Tap Ensemble. Cook and Evans were chosen by the Department of Ballet and the Department of Modern Dance, respectively.
Other 2011 honorees include Richard Taylor for the Department of Art and Art History, Christine Walker for the Department of Film and Media Arts, Celena Shafer for the School of Music, and for the Department of Theatre, Kenneth Washington.
