Several dance supporters have challenged the American Dance Festival (ADF) to raise $43,000 before July 24 in a matching gift challenge that will benefit the newly established Charles L. and Stephanie Reinhart fund.
The fund supports commissions of new work, scholarships for aspiring dancers attending the ADF School, and other special projects that reflect the vision of retiring ADF director Charles and his late wife and former ADF co-director, Stephanie Reinhart.
The challenge was set by Fox Family Foundation, Thomas S. Kenan III, Duke University, The Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, RBC Wealth Management, DMA Charitable Foundation, and John W. Claghorn III. If the $43,000 can be raised by the deadline, these organizations and individuals will provide matching funds.
Audience members will have an opportunity at the end of each 2011 ADF performance to contribute toward the challenge and have their gift matched. In addition, contributions can be made to the Charles L. and Stephanie Reinhart Fund online at www.americandancefestival.org.
The 2011 ADF, entitled Something New, Something Treasured, celebrates the best in modern dance, both past and present, with performances by the Paul Taylor Dance Company, Pilobolus, Martha Clarke, Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Eiko & Koma, Anne Teresa De Keersmaker’s Rosas, and Shen Wei Dance Arts.
