The 16th annual “Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance” will be presented in Houston at 8 p.m. September 24 and 25 by Dance Source Houston at Miller Outdoor Theatre. The free festival showcases a wide range of contemporary choreographic styles set to live and recorded music.
The festival’s curatorial committee includes Christina Giannelli, founder and producing director of Dance Source Houston; Joanna Friesen, dance educator; Nancy Wozny, cultural arts blogger and dance critic; and Roxanne M. Claire, choreographer and dance educator.
The performance program features Texas-based choreographers Paola Georgudis, Catalina Molnari, and Erin Reck and companies including Frame Dance Productions, infinite Moving Ever Evolving (iMEE), NobleMotion Dance, Revolve Dance Company, Suchu Dance, and Vault.
A free family matinee, Dance Around the World, featuring Houston Ballet II, will be offered at 11 a.m. September 25.
Free tickets for the evening performances will be available at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the day of the show and again at 7 p.m. Listening devices for the hearing impaired will be available at the box office one hour prior to curtain.
