In December, Ballet Arizona announced that Jones, the former director of Oregon Ballet Theatre School, had been appointed school director of the School of Ballet Arizona, where he begins work February 12. He’ll oversee training at the school, which enrolls approximately 300 students in its year-round program, 250 in its summer intensive, and roughly 500 adults in open classes. The school also serves young students with Down syndrome and adults with Parkinson’s disease.

A statement from Ballet Arizona to Dance Studio Life said Jones’ selection was due to his deep background as both a school administrator and teacher, as well as his career as a professional dancer. Jones began his ballet training at Minnesota Dance Theatre and danced professionally with Pacific Northwest Ballet. He has served on the ballet faculties of Palucca University for Dance in Dresden, Germany, and Ridgefield Conservatory for Dance in Connecticut.
