What’s up in the dance community
Gretchen Vogelzang has stepped down as Regional Dance America executive director after more than 10 years of service.
Vogelzang was elected president of RDA’s National Board of Directors in 2003 and assumed the executive director position in 2007. Her legacy includes expanding the National Choreography Intensive, developing RDA’s online presence, and heading three RDA National Dance Festivals. At the 2017 Phoenix event, scholarship money awarded to member dancers hit a new high of more than $400,000.
This spring, Erika Davis, an arts administrator who has been involved with RDA for many years, was named RDA’s first chief executive officer. “My plan is to raise the profile of RDA in the eyes of pre-professional and professional dance companies along with universities and colleges offering dance programs,” Davis told Dance Studio Life.
